We have yet to discover documentation on the parentage, birth, or death of Job PARKER. His life can only be seen through

legal documentation, census and tax records, and family trees. There is a family story that Job was a preacher; in fact, Job

was summoned to court for "celebrating matrimony as a minister without legal authority." [See 15 May 1788 below.] However,

while his children are well documented and his descendants are still in WEST VIRGINIA, there is very little public data on Job's

life.

etc." (Misc (West) Virginia Court Records; Marietta College Special Collections)

Petor vs. Job Parker." (Misc (West) Virginia Court Records; Marietta College Special Collections)

• In 1763 and 1765 Benjamin PARKER son of Job PARKER, received FAIRFAX Land Grants along Mill Creek in Hampshire

County, (WEST) VIRGINIA.

"Benjamin received two land grants from Lord Fairfax: The first one is dated March 5, 1763, for 227 acres;

The second is dated January 1, 1765, and is for 214 acres. These grants are preserved, and are in the Parker

history files. This land was all along Mill Creek, in Hampshire County, Virginia (Now West Virginia)."

(Hodge, Parker, McAdams, Junkins Families [S368])

• By the 1782 census, Job was the only original PARKER living in Hampshire County, (WEST) VIRGINIA. Job was enumerated

as "Parker, Job / 7 [whites] / -- [blacks]" We know so little about Job, it is difficult to name the other six people living with him.

His son Benjamin was enumerated as "Parker, Benjamin, 7 [whites] / -- [blacks]" with wife Sarah O’FARRELL and

children

(perhaps some who did not live to adulthood.] • NEEDS VERIFICATION

• In the 1784 census "Parker, Job / 6 / 1 / 2 (Name of head of family / White souls / Dwellings / Other buildings)" was the

enumeration for Job, but his son Benjamin and family were not enumerated.
