FOR HIS SERVICE, Olan HANNAH was given a New Testament Bible, signed by H. J. Hensley,

believed to be Hickman HENSLEY (1872 - 1932), a prominent businessman in Jacksboro, Jack

County, TEXAS (A short biography is below.)

Olan's granddaughter Glenda Kaye MEADOR MOORE describes the Bible.

'I also wanted to add pictures of the WW1 New Testament that was left to me by Mom and Pop. I

was hesitant to open the book wide to scan it in fear that it would break the binding. The pictures

aren't the best as a result .

- Photo one is the cover.

- Photo two is the first page of the bible.  I don't know who Mr. Hensley is, but it has a stamp

reading Jacksboro, Texas. I wonder if it could be someone who gave the testament to the soldiers

who signed up at Jacksboro?

- The next two pages of the Bible has granddad's personal information

Name: Olan D. Hannah

Address: Jacksboro Texas Route 9

Olan D. Hannah

Jacksboro Tex

Born near Jacksboro

Sept 22, 1892

age 25 yeras old

- There was another page where Pop had written 1st Colossians, which must have had special

meaning to him.

- I had an especially hard time getting a copy of the final page.  It reads

Memoranda:

Remember Sept. 19, 1917. I arrived in Camp Travis.

Remember Sept. 16, 1917, at Singing at Mr. Foxes. [Olan HANNAH married Cora Myrtice FOX

on

24 December 1919, in Jack Co, TEXAS.]

Remember Sept. 17, 1917, party at Alvin Wittons."

I don't know who Mr. Witton is, but I believe the "singing at Mr. Foxes'" seems to indicate that being

with our grandmother must have been rather memorable.
